To Change Government, You Must Change Those Who Have Been Running Government

My name is Richard Wall, and I am running for Independence Township Committee.  I am trying to reach out to as many members of the Republican Party for Independence Township as I can to ask for their support.  I have a vision of how our community should move towards better servicing the residents of Independence. 

 I choose to run for this position based on my vision of changing the government, rather than running on tearing down my competitors.  I do believe in transparency in government, and one of the best ways to do this is to have the township budget on the town’s website.  This way, taxpayers can see where their tax dollars are being spent.  I also would like to look at the structure of the departments and see if there is any streamlining that can be achieved to keep the services, yet also keep the costs down.  I understand the economic crisis we are all in and, because of that, I believe we need to change the way we do business.

I am running for township committee person, and I will be willing to work with anybody who believes that our community comes first.  With that said, I ask for your support because I understand that to change the way things are done might come at the expense of many nay sayers, or disbelievers.  I ask for your support because together we can do much good. Our community needs to be together during these tough economic times, not separated and pitted against each other.  Various focus groups asking for their own groups welfare and not considering the other groups is something that needs to be changed.  I want to build our community together by communicating and understanding everybody’s needs.  I envision our community moving forward with answers to problems, rather than reactions to them.  I hope this gives you a brief understanding of my beliefs, and I hope you will join me on this path to build a happy, safe, community within Independence. 

This year, there will be (2) Town Committee seats that are up for election.  I obviously am planning to win (1) of these seats, and I am endorsing Mike Trotter to win the other. Mike is not only a neighbor, but a good friend who I know shares the same goals and vision for Independence.
